Current Events In Need Of Volunteer Help

Needs for Marching Season

As of August 15, 2023 – We rely on donations of bottled water to help keep the band students hydrated at football games and competitions throughout the marching season. Now that the season has officially started, we are requesting donations of bottled water which can be dropped off in the band room at Sherando. Any amount of water you can donate is much appreciated! 

General Band Booster Volunteering Opportunities

There are a lot of areas where volunteers are needed throughout the year. Based on previous years, over 3000 volunteer-hours are needed to cover all activities the Band Boosters are responsible for.

Weekly/bi-weekly newsletter emails will keep everyone up to date with the latest band news and events. These emails will contain volunteer sign up links so that parents can easily volunteer for the different activities. We understand the complexity of each families schedules, but even if you can help for one hour at one football game, that will be a big help to helping us achieve our goals for the year.

Listed below are many of the areas we typically need the most help with each year. Please help as you are able. We can not do any of this without our wonderful band parents!

Chaperones

Competitions / Band Trips / Parades (eg. Apple Blossom), etc.

Fundraisers

Help with different fundraisers throughout the year

Hospitality

  • Band Camp meal help (setup, serving, clean up)
  • Band Camp snacks (preparation, serving)
  • Performance Meal help (Parent Preview in August, refreshments after concerts, etc.)
  • Band Awards Banquet help (in May each year)
  • Will help when needed (as events are scheduled)

Tailgate Crew

Prepare and serve dinner on Friday nights prior to home football games

Logistics

Loading and unloading equipment truck before or after performances

Uniform Help

  • Fitting uniforms during August Band Camp rehearsals
  • Help with uniforms before or after performances

Props – Marching Band

Help with prop building, moving, and holding during marching band performances.
